West Ham United fans have left Dimitri Payet in no doubt over their feelings towards him one year after he left the club.

West Ham have struggled badly since their talismanic Dimitri Payet left the club last January.
The French star had become a hero with supporters for his brilliant performances in the club’s farewell season at their beloved Boleyn Ground home.
But when he downed tools in an effort to force a return to Marseille last January he soon burned his bridges with the Hammers faithful.

Initially Payet’s departure seemed to galvanise West Ham, who had been flirting with relegation last season.
But in truth the East Londoners have struggled to replace his mercurial talent ever since and look a shadow of the side which almost qualified for the Champions League with Payet pulling the strings.
David Moyes faces an uphill battle to keep West Ham up this season and it seems Hammers supporters are still bitter, pouncing to troll Payet’s new year message on Twitter.
“I wish you all a wonderful year 2018,” Payet said on Twitter.
“That prosperity, joy and health.”

It is safe to assume that had Payet – who was handsomely rewarded with a bumper new contract and loyalty bonus just months before his departure – stayed with West Ham Slaven Bilic would still be in the job now.
He left, though, and Bilic’s demise followed ending with the Croatian being sacked and replaced by David Moyes.
So it wasn’t long before Payet’s new year message was being trolled by Hammers fans with the supporters’ ‘snake’ moniker a recurring theme although some still remember the good times.
