Aston Villa got back to winning ways against Middlesbrough this weekend.
Aston Villa finally got a much-needed win on the board when they overcame Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
The Villans' goal came courtesy of Robert Snodgrass, who found the net with only 15 minutes of normal-time remaining, and it will be a disappointing game to reflect on for Scott Hogan, who failed to find the net in his second successive start for a club in desperate need of a regular scorer.
The absence of Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davies means the much-maligned Hogan was given a chance to prove his worth, first against Brentford and then against Boro.
While he got an assist in the 2-1 loss to his former club, one wonders how many more chances Hogan will get given his lack of impact last time out.
A lack of confidence is certainly a factor, with Villa rarely starting the 25-year-old despite the goals that earned him a move in the first place.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Villa fans thought of Hogan's latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Sometimes in life you buy things for a lot more money than they are worth. You persist with them for a while in an attempt to get your money's worth. However deep down, you know its not good enough. In the end you replace it. Scott Hogan is a prime example of this. #AVFC— Scott (@AVFC_Scott) December 30, 2017
Hogan bless him looks a mess. If every one was fit I would say he is behind Kodjia Davis Gabby after today RHM and if OHare got a chance to play there he would be ahead of him.— Chez Avfc (@AvfcUTV1) December 30, 2017
Snodgrass was poor today but popped up with the goal. Feel for Hogan it just isn't working out. Hepburn-Murphy did more and look a real threat in the last 15 minutes. #AVFC— Kevin Hughes (@kevinhughes348) December 30, 2017
I’m sorry once hogan has his first goal the guy won’t stop scoring!!!! Give the guy time things haven’t been going his way just like the rest! Stay with him it will come!! UTV— Aston Villa Fans (@AVFCFans1) December 30, 2017
I like Hogan, he makes some great runs but our midfield never spots them. He needs the ball playing to his feet— chris walton (@chriswalton80) December 30, 2017
#avfc We absolutely must dispense with Hogan’s non goal-scoring services in January - promote our youngsters and sign a striker who isn’t a one-trick pony.— bc (@avfc_golf) December 30, 2017
Do feel sorry for hogan tho , left out to dry most weeks , just chasing long balls , great cammeo from HEP MURPHY tho— DazPos77 (@Daz7AVFC) December 30, 2017
