Report: Sunderland, Leeds United face competition from two Championship rivals, including Norwich City, in race for Ben Woodburn's signature

Norwich City and Preston North End are the latest clubs to be linked with a move for Woodburn, after Sunderland, Leeds United and others.

Linked clubs Sunderland and Leeds United face competition from Championship rivals, Norwich City and Preston North End, in the race for Ben Woodburn's signature, according to the Sun.

It is claimed that Liverpool's Woodburn, who made his first Wales appearances under Sunderland manager Chris Coleman, could be allowed to leave Anfield on loan to build up first team experience.

Sunderland and Leeds are among those already credited with interest in the 18-year-old forward, and will perhaps be wary of Norwich and Preston muscling in on their alleged pursuits.

As a former Anfield employee, Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has strong links with Liverpool, while Preston are the closest to them geographically of all four clubs, which could have a bearing on any decision.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Preston, whose manager Alex Neil left Norwich last season, are set to sign Woodburn's Liverpool teammate Harry Wilson in January.

Leeds' lofty league position - fifth - arguably makes them the Welshman's most attractive destination, although his relationship with Coleman could still count for something.
