Celtic are set to net a windfall from Virgil Van Dijk's big money move from Southampton to Liverpool.

The Reds are paying £75 million for the centre-back, and Celtic will receive 10 per cent as per terms of their sale to the Saints in 2015.

Pundit Chris Sutton said at the time that Celtic sold Van Dijk too cheaply, and still recalls taking flak for his stance.

Last night after Liverpool sealed their move for Liverpool, and Sutton took the opportunity to remind a Rangers supporter who gave him stick at the time that he was right all along.

The supporter's credit, he responded by insisting he still feels Van Dijk is overpriced at £75 million, a world record fee for a defender.

Sutton went onto insist that Celtic must heed this lesson regarding Moussa Dembele, who has been linked with an exit from the club next month.

It is almost certain that Celtic will insist on including a sell-on fee if they do sell Dembele.

They will net £7.5 million from Van Dijk's move to Liverpool, a reward for an excellent piece of forward thinking from the club's board.
