Tipped for the top at Ibrox, Rangers youngster Liam Burt will be bidding to have a strong 2018.
Rangers superkid Liam Burt’s season has been lost to injury so far, but the young Scotland international will be hoping to have a better 2018.
Back in December last year, Burt was being praised by under-20s manager and now first team caretaker boss Graeme Murty.
Murty told Rangers’ official website: “Liam Burt topped it off with what has to be the best goal of the round and possibly goal of the season. His vision, execution and the audacity to go and try it was something that really stood out.”
Burt, 18, has already made three first team appearances for Rangers, but hasn’t been in the running this season.
In August he had to undergo an operation on his hip, and has not featured for the academy since.
But there is reason to be hopeful that Burt’s luck will turn in 2018.
In a conversation with a fan on Twitter a few days ago, Burt confirmed he is back in training.
The attacker will have to work hard to recover his match fitness and sharpness, but if he can get back to his best, there is no reason why he cannot force himself into the first team reckoning by the end of this season, especially if Murty remains in charge until then.
The Scotland under-21 international is a top talent, who Rangers will have to be patient with, but at the same time there has to be hope that 2018 will be the year he steps up and starts fulfilling his potential.
