Everton should move for Chelsea's David Luiz

David Luiz of Chelsea celebrates victory after the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on August 20, 2017 in London, England.

Everton are expected to invest in their squad in the January transfer window.

Chelsea's Brazilian defender David Luiz warms up ahead of the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in London on September 16, 2016.

Everton should make a move for David Luiz, with the defender’s future at Chelsea now uncertain.

The Daily Mail suggest that Chelsea could offload Luiz in the January transfer window, and he is the calibre of player Everton should now be looking to bring to Goodison Park.

Everton have expressed a desire to break into the top four in the coming years, and have money to spend to get there.

David Luiz of Chelsea looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Norwich City and Chelsea at Carrow Road on December 26, 2012 in Norwich, England.

Luiz would certainly have the quality to help them achieve their aim, with the Brazilian a potentially brilliant signing for Sam Allardyce’s side.

Everton have tightened up considerably at the back since Allardyce took charge, but they will have to upgrade their options at centre-back, if they are to really start competing for a spot in the top four.

Sam Allardyce looks on from the stand during the Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on November 29, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Mason Holgate shows promise but it still very young, Ashley Williams is a fading force, and Michael Keane has struggled since moving to Merseyside.

Luiz could bring Everton all of his robust defensive qualities and he also knows exactly what it takes to play in a Champions League chasing side.

Those two qualities could be key for Everton, and if Luiz available, then Allardyce should make sure the Toffees are at the front of the queue for his signature.
