David Ginola concerned over Rafael Benitez's future at Newcastle United

Newcastle United are currently in 18th position in the Premier League table.

TV pundit David Ginola looks on before the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Newcastle United at the Liberty Stadium on December 4, 2013 in Swansea, Wales.

David Ginola has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 20th December, that Newcastle United simply have to show Rafael Benitez they have ambition, if they are to keep him at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle have failed to win any of their last nine Premier League matches, which has plunged Benitez’s future in to doubt.

As things stand, the Magpies are in 18th place in the top flight standings.

And Ginola fears that Benitez will become fed up of managing a team in a relegation battle, unless Newcastle prove they have a desire to compete at the top end of the table in the near future.

“He belongs to top teams. If Newcastle do not make any effort to show him that they want to be at the top, I think he’s going to be on his way,” Ginola said.

Benitez is likely to be sticking around, as Newcastle are so close to being taken over by Amanda Staveley.

Staveley is attempting to purchase the Tynesiders from Mike Ashley, and there is great optimism for the future, if the businesswoman is able to take charge.

Newcastle fans believe that Staveley will finally provide Benitez with the funds required to turn the Magpies into a force at the top level again.

Newcastle are next in action at the weekend, when they take on a resurgent West Ham United at the London Stadium.
