Sunderland are reportedly among the sides chasing Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback.

Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the report coming from TEAMtalk on Tuesday that suggested that the Black Cats are keen on bringing Jack Colback back in from Newcastle in January.

Colback has endured a miserable time at St James’ Park, having been completely frozen out by Rafa Benitez in recent times, and TEAMtalk believe that a move could be on the cards next month.

There are a host of Championship clubs hoping to sign the 28-year-old, according to TEAMtalk, including Leeds, Derby, Bristol City and Reading. But the most intriguing team reportedly in the running is undoubtedly Sunderland – who will know how crucial it is that they enjoy a good January window as they look to drag themselves out of danger in the second tier.

But while Sunderland fans want to see new faces arrive through the door at the Stadium of Light, the overwhelming impression is that Colback is certainly one player that they do not want to see return three years after his departure.

The circumstances that surrounded his move to the Magpies seemingly saw the midfielder burn his bridges with the club, and thus, it would be an extremely unpopular move from the Black Cats.

There was one or two fans who would be willing to give the midfielder a chance if he did end up returning, but it appears that the large majority of supporters are not ready to see Colback come back.
