Harry Cochrane caught the eye of Celtic and Glasgow Rangers fans, with the Ibrox faithful in particular, kicking themselves.

Both Celtic and Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to laud Harry Cochrane after the midfielder’s stunning performance in Hearts’ win over the Hoops which ended Brendan Rodgers’ men’s stunning domestic unbeaten run.

The Bhoys went into their trip to Tynecastle unbeaten in 69 games in Scotland, and few would have been surprised if they managed to make it 70 games without defeat after coming up against Craig Levein’s side.

In truth however, Hearts were superb against a lacklustre Celtic – and they got their rewards just 26 minutes in when Cochrane broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish.

Kyle Lafferty doubled the home side’s lead 10 minutes before the break with another excellent goal, while Manuel Milinkovic scored twice in the second-half to wrap up the three points in emphatic fashion.

All of Levein’s men will be extremely proud of their performances, but it was Cochrane who received the man of the match award after a stunning display in just his seventh professional appearance.

The 16-year-old – who was born in the week Lubomir Moravcik and Henrik Larsson inspired Celtic to a 3-0 win at Ibrox in 2001 – gave Scott Brown a torrid time in the middle of the park, and earned the plaudits of a significant number of Hoops fans on social media after Sunday’s game.

For Rangers supporters, seeing Cochrane play so well and prove so influential against their bitter rivals was somewhat bittersweet as the Gers could have had the teenager in their ranks as he was on their books before he moved to Tynecastle.
