Liverpool need to improve defensively and should bring in Frenchman.
Although manager Jurgen Klopp has attempted to address the issue, Liverpool remain vulnerable at the back, with the Reds having conceded 20 goals in the Premier League this season, more than any of the sides above them.
With Dejan Lovren error prone, while Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan also lack consistency, it seems clear that Liverpool need to strengthen at centre-back when the transfer window opens in January.
Liverpool’s rivals Everton are interested in signing Adama Soumaoro from Ligue 1 side Lille, as reported by the Daily Mail, with the French club needing to raise money quickly given that they are in a difficult financial situation.
The 25-year-old is an option that Liverpool should consider themselves, especially that he is comfortable playing anywhere in defence and would therefore greatly improve the depth of their squad.
Strong physically and composed in possession, Soumaoro, who is valued at £20 million according to the report, should be well suited to playing in the Premier League and could well prove to be an astute signing for Liverpool if they are able to complete a deal.
If Liverpool are to start performing with greater consistency and challenge for trophies under Klopp then it is vital that they improve defensively and Soumaoro could help them do just that.
