Boyhood Rangers fan Jamie Murphy wanted Ibrox move when club were at rock bottom

Rangers are again being linked with a move for Murphy, who supported the Ibrox side growing up.

Jamie Murphy is high on Rangers' list of January transfer targets, the Scottish Sun reported on Thursday.

The Scottish winger has played only a bit-part role for Brighton & Hove Albion this season, prompting Rangers to 'plot a £1.2 million swoop'.

It is also claimed that a loan deal could be facilitated, with Murphy 'eager to move on' - and assuming Rangers aren't blown out of the water by a rival bidder, a move to Ibrox looks a good bet for the boyhood Gers fan.

Such is Murphy's desire to play for Rangers, he was keen on doing so even when they were a fourth tier side - as reported by the Glasgow Evening Times in November 2012.

However, with Rangers then under a transfer embargo, they were powerless to prevent Murphy's transfer to Sheffield United only a few months later.

Rangers have no such issues now though, and surely the 28-year-old would still be tempted by a move to Ibrox, with heroes a Premiership side once more.

Would Murphy be a good signing for Rangers?
