Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been tracking Bundesliga starlet Nadiem Amiri for over a year – but now Arsenal are attempting to muscle in.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been a keen admirer of Nadiem Amiri for some time now. As far back as April 2016, Bild claimed that Tottenham Hotspur had sent scouts to watch the Hoffenheim midfielder.
And with the January transfer window just weeks away, it seems that Spurs could finally be about to step up their interest in one of Germany’s brightest young talents.
According to The Sun, Tottenham are hoping to lure Amiri away from Hoffenheim in January and are considering an offer of £20 million. Though Spurs are not alone in trying to tempt the Germany Under-21 ace to North London.

The report adds that local rivals Arsenal are very interested in Amiri, whose outstanding performances helped Hoffenheim finish fourth in the Bundesliga last season and qualify for the Champions League play-offs for the first time in their history.
Amiri has continued that fine form into the current campaign too with four goals to his name already.
And it remains to be seen whether he believes the time is right to fly the Hoffenheim nest and make the step up with a move to the Premier League.

If so, he faces a tough decision about which North London giant would provide the better environment for his development. Both Pochettino and Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger are renowned for trusting youth, as well as putting plenty of value in technical and creative central midfielders after all.
But considering that Spurs have been hot on Amiri’s trail for a year and a half, it would be a bitter blow to lose him to Arsenal after all this time.
