Queens Park Rangers and Barnsley are said to be ‘watching his progress closely’.

Stevenage striker Danny Newton is being ‘followed’ by Championship sides Queens Park Rangers and Barnsley, the Daily Mail reports (live blog entry: 13:16).
Newton, a graduate of Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy, only moved to Stevenage in the summer, but has adapted well to League Two life, scoring seven goals and creating two more for his teammates in 18 starts.

The 26-year-old also scored twice against Swindon Town in the FA Cup earlier his month – one an impressive solo effort.
And according to the Daily Mail, both QPR and Barnsley – along with League One Milton Keynes Dons – are ‘watching Newton’s progress closely’.
The report adds that, should he continue to impress, the Liverpudlian could travel further up the league ladder in January.
QPR and Barnsley already raided the lower leagues for players this season, with David Wheeler [Exeter] and Bright Osayi-Samuel [Blackpool] both heading to Loftus Road and the Tykes bringing in Cameron McGeehan [Luton], Ethan Pinnock [Yeovil], Brad Potts [Blackpool] and Matty Pearson [Accrington].
Should Queens Park Rangers / Barnsley make moves for Newton in January?
