The West Ham United youngster has been thrust into the limelight this season.

When writing his column for the club’s official website, Hammers boss David Moyes opened up on a conversation that he shared with young centre-back Declan Rice during training this week.
West Ham have been woeful this season, and currently sit in 19th position in the Premier League table after their paltry return of just 10 points from 15 games.
The Hammers faithful have had little to shout about, with their side struggling on the pitch, and the poor atmosphere in the London Stadium leaving the fans longing for the days at Upton Park.

There has been one thing for West Ham fans to get excited about, however – Declan Rice’s rise to prominence.
The 18-year-old has been thrust into the public eye this term, due to the Hammers’ defensive injury crisis, but he has performed admirably, showcasing his cool and composed nature when in possession of the football, combined with his ability to defend, on a regular basis.

“I thought Declan Rice did really well last week, and I spoke to him. I said to him that a good sign is that you’re not noticed as a centre-half, because it’s when you start getting noticed too much that maybe you’re making mistakes.”
West Ham welcome Chelsea to the London Stadium today for the 12:30 kick-off, and Rice is a doubt for the game after suffering with flu during the week.
