Celtic booked their Europa League spot despite losing to Anderlecht in their final Champions League game.
Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to comment after Celtic rounded off their Champions League group-stage campaign by suffering a defeat at home to Anderlecht that was enough to book the Hoops' place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
After winning in Belgium earlier in the campaign, Brendan Rodgers' men knew that anything better than a three-goal defeat would be enough for them to secure third place in the group at Parkhead.
It was not a perfect performance from the Bhoys by any means, and it appeared that Anderlecht could potentially set up an incredibly nervy finish as an own goal from Jozo Simunovic just a couple of minutes after the hour mark saw the visitors take the lead.
But Celtic saw the game out and ensured that their European adventure will continue after Christmas as they kept the score down to 1-0.
Former Hoops striker Sutton seemed to be critical of the side on social media after the game as he did not seem to get carried away despite their progress.
He did however, reserve praise for both Scott Brown and Olivier Ntchman. He suggested that the midfield pair were outstanding, but insisted that Celtic need to step their games up if they hope to make more of a mark at the continental table.
Here is what Sutton had to say after the game...
