McGinty has been earning rave reviews at Torquay since joining the club in the summer of 2016 and the centre-back is regarded as one of the best defenders in the National League.
The 6ft,6in left-sided central defender played in every game last season for Torquay and he has been an ever-present for the Gulls in the National League so far this term.
McGinty has been named as captain in recent weeks and the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 has thrived with the responsibility of wearing the captain's armband with a number of eye-catching displays.
League One hopefuls Charlton are admirers of McGinty as Karl Robinson looks to add to his squad in January ahead of a promotion push, while Neil Lennon's Hibs also see McGinty as someone who could add to their defensive options at Easter Road.
McGinty is out of contract at the end of the season and Torquay are bracing themselves for interest in the talented defender when the transfer window reopens in January.
The 24-year-old started out at Manchester United, playing in the same youth side as Paul Pogba and was highly-rated within the corridors of power at Old Trafford.
McGinty joined United from Charlton's academy and was loaned to four different clubs before being released by the Red Devils in 2013.
