Thomas Christiansen is confident that Leeds United can compete for promotion.
Leeds United were held to a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in the Championship clash at Elland Road on Friday.
The home side were a much better team in the first half, and took the lead through Pontus Jansson in the 19th minute.
Villa came back strongly in the second half, and got the equalizer through Henri Lansbury when he scored from just outside the box in the 71st minute.
Leeds enjoyed 52% of possession, but could muster only one shot on target, despite dominating the first half.
With this result, Leeds have jumped to 7th in the league, with 30 points. Villa maintain their unbeaten run and stay rooted in the fourth position with 36 points.
Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen is upbeat that his side can still mount a promotion challenge. When asked whether Leeds can compete with the top six, Christiansen said “Of course, sure.”
Christiansen believes that in the second half, his team lacked a bit of quality, and they should have kept the ball more and control possession.
"Well, I believe a little bit the quality and also a little bit to keep a little bit more the ball. If we have had the possession of the ball it would have been another game," said Christiansen, as quoted by LeedsLive.
