Wiedwald was restored to Leeds’ starting line-up for their match against Barnsley at Oakwell, and the goalkeeper impressed.
The German is now set to stay in Leeds’ team for their match against Leeds United later this evening.
And Christiansen says that Wiedwald has been training very well recently.
“This was the game for (Wiedwald) to come in and it was a decision we spoke about through the week,” Christiansen said. “We thought it was his moment.
“He’s performed well in training and he has learned from his mistakes.”
Wiedwald was error prone over the early part of the season, but Leeds’ results have generally been positive with him in goal.
Leeds’ worst run of form over the campaign so far came with Andy Lonergan in net.
Leeds are set to take on Aston Villa later tonight, in what will be an important match to prove their promotion credentials.
Leeds can move into the play offs with a win this evening, but beating Villa will be a major challenge.
Steve Bruce’s side are currently in fourth place in the Championship table, and have been in fine form recently.
