Unfortunately for Anderlecht, they may find that there’s a lack of interest now they are considering the sale of Lukas Teodorczyk in January.
Back in June, The Mirror reported that Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton were going head to head for a striker with his £10 million transfer fee justified by a tally of 27 goals in a stunning debut season in Belgian football.
And the Premier League duo were far from the only English sides linked with a player Anderlecht signed on the cheap from Dinamo Kiev midway through last season after a dazzling start to his loan spell.
Though that prolific purple patch has given way to a difficult second season. Teodorczyk has just three goals in 19 games in 2017/18 – and an Anderlecht side enduring a disappointing defence of their league title might wish they’d cashed in during the summer.
According to DH, Anderlecht may consider selling Teodorczyk in January in order to raise funds for another striker. The problem, however, is that the purple and whites may struggle to find a buyer – let alone one willing to pay £10 million.
And while Everton still need a new number nine, it appears unlikely that Teodorczyk will enter their thinking again as he struggles to replicate his career-best form from last season.
Everton know Teodorczyk well – he scored against The Toffees in their Europa League defeat to Dynamo Kiev in 2014/15 – but his poor form might have scuppered his chances of a big break in England.
