Cardiff City can extend their hold over third-place Sheffield United by beating Norwich City on Friday.
Norwich though, travel to the Cardiff City Stadium desperate to get themselves back into the play-off picture.
Earlier this week, Norwich chairman Ed Balls warned that failure to gain promotion this season could bring financial challenges, as a result of overspending throughout the previous regime.
Based on money spent in recent seasons, Cardiff have little right to be 13 places and 16 points better off than their opponents.
That's despite Norwich having implemented cost-cutting measures during the summer transfer window.
And the pair's financial differences are perhaps best highlighted by their sole changes on Friday.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who has been one of Cardiff's better players this season, cost them nothing from League One Rochdale in July, while Timm Klose has struggled to live up to the £9.5 million transfer fee Norwich paid Bundesliga Wolfsburg 23 months ago (Transfermarkt).
