Newcastle United fought back to earn a draw against West Brom yesterday.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez explained what disappointed him about his side’s 2-2 draw with West Brom last night, alluding to their inability to take advantage when they or on top during games, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Newcastle did manage to fight back from 2-0 down at the Hawthorns though, and bring an end to their run of four straight defeats, so things could have been a whole lot worse for the Toon.
Benitez’s side now sit in in 12th position in the table, with 15 points to their name, although they could drop lower than that after tonight’s set of fixtures.

The Spaniard addressed the media in the aftermath of last night’s draw, and shared what disappointed him about the Magpies’ performance, as quoted by NUFC.co.uk:
“I was disappointed with the first-half. We were in control, we had everything more or less in our hands, and then we concede a late goal again, so I was upset with that.”

Despite the fact that Newcastle currently sit comfortably in mid-table, there are murmurs of discontent emanating from St James’ Park.
January could very well turn out to be a pivotal month for the club, and if Benitez does not receive the kind of financial backing that he expects in the transfer window, there could be further problems on the horizon for the Tyneside outfit.
