There’s barely a highly-rated Liverpool youngster that Leeds United have not been linked with in the last few months.
Per The Sun, Leeds were hoping to land exciting winger Ryan Kent on loan for the season after he shone at Yorkshire rivals Barnsley in 2016/17. And All Nigeria Soccer claimed that the Championship giants would have signed the hugely promising Ovie Ejaria in January had injury not scuppered the move.
ESPN even reported in September that Leeds were willing to offer Danny Ings a temporary move away from Anfield to allow the injury-stricken striker to rediscover his golden touch.
And with the agent of seldom-seen starlet Marko Grujic stating that the Serbian is eyeing a loan deal in the New Year, it would be no surprise to see Leeds at the front of the queue again.
Third time lucky?
"Grujic has to go somewhere in January in a loan, in the team where he will play. It must be an English club, so as not to make a mistake like Lazar Markovic did,” Zoran Stojadinovic told Sportskacentrala.
Signing for Liverpool amid huge expectations in 2016, the £5.1 million former Red Star Belgrade powerhouse has not managed to make an impact at Anfield. He’s started just one game in all competitions this season, the 2-0 home defeat to Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
But the gifted midfielder, likened to Nemanja Matic for his rangy stride and fearsome strikes from distance, is a player of undoubted potential and regular football at Leeds could be exactly what he needs to adapt belatedly to English football.
Leeds were unable to bring Kent or Ejaria to Elland Road while Ings looks unlikely with no shortage of Premier League interest. Grujic, however, could be the pick of the bunch.
