Former Celtic striker Tony Cascarino has written in The Times that it is not a brave decision from West Bromwich Albion to appoint Alan Pardew as their new manager.

Pardew, who has managed clubs such as Newcastle United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace so far in his career, has told Sky Sports that he has held talks with West Brom.

The Baggies are on the hunt for a new permanent manager following the departure of Tony Pulis.

Gary Megson is in temporary charge of West Brom at the moment, with the team fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Cascarino believes that it is not a brave decision from the West Brom owners to appoint Pardew.

“It’s not brave appointing Pardew but West Brom’s owners know he will lift the team in the short term,” Cascarino wrote in The Times. “And if it doesn’t work out, there are plenty of options to turn to next.”

Pardew is a very good manager who has shown what he is capable of in the Premier League.

The Englishman did a good job at Newcastle, and what he did at London outfit Crystal Palace was not exactly bad either.
