Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon was called out for his performance in Paris.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton took aim at goalkeeper Craig Gordon after the Scottish champions were beaten 7-1 by Paris Saint-Germain.
Gordon had to contend with poor defending against Europe’s very best attackers, but he did not help his cause at times either, giving the ball away in his own third.
Sutton re-iterated his previously held view that Gordon is not good enough if Celtic wish to compete at the top level.
Speaking to BT Sport’s in-game commentary team, Sutton blasted: “How many times this season have we seen him give the ball away in these circumstances?
“That is another poor decision. He just doesn’t fill me with confidence with the ball at his feet.
“This is at a level where you get found out.”
Gordon was culpable for an error which led to Celtic’s home defeat against Bayern Munich earlier in the campaign, and he has now conceded 12 times in two games against PSG.
It is hard to argue with Gordon’s record in domestic football with Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, but he turns 35 at the end of next month and his manager would be wise to try and identify a successor.
It might not be possible to do this January, but the search should start now.
