Leeds United have overlooked the young defender in recent weeks.
Leeds United's players were put through their paces today ahead of their Championship clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday evening, and among those involved was centre-back Conor Shaughnessy.
The 21-year-old continues to be part of the Whites' squad but his lack of game time since his initial breakthrough is bizarre given his contribution when he did feature.
With his last league appearance coming back in September, Shaughnessy can feel rightly aggrieved to have been overlooked time and again considering how poor some of his fellow Leeds centre-backs were prior to the last international break.
Thankfully Leeds got back to winning ways against Middlesbrough last weekend. However that is just the start and they need to build up a head of steam with the hectic Christmas and New Year fixtures likely to test the best of sides in this toughest of divisions.
Shaughnessy will surely feature then, yet it would be interesting to see how he feels about being overlooked just when it seemed he was one of the few consistently reliable centre-backs on the club's books.
The Whites are back in action on Wednesday and they then take on Barnsley in another away fixture on Saturday.
