According to a report from The Irish Sun, West Brom want a manager who boasts Premier League experience following the club’s decision to part company with Tony Pulis on Monday.

The Baggies sacked the Welshman just a couple of days after they suffered yet another defeat in the Premier League with Chelsea leaving The Hawthorns with a 4-0 win. The loss has left West Brom just outside the relegation zone in the top flight, just one point above the bottom three.

It proved to be Pulis’ final game in charge of the club as he was dismissed earlier today, leaving the Baggies board with a crucial appointment to make as they desperately try to turn their form around and end a winless run that stretches all the way back to August.

Two of the names who have been linked with the post in recent times are Michael O’Neill – as reported by The Irish Sun – and Derek McInnes, who was linked earlier today by The Scottish Sun.

However, The Irish Sun reports that neither man is set to be in contention for the post as the Baggies are determined to find a successor for Pulis who boasts Premier League experience as they look to get themselves out of trouble.

McInnes has managed in the Championship, but his spell at Bristol City is unlikely to be remembered particularly fondly, while O’Neill is yet to manage in England altogether. Of course, it seems too soon into the process to suggest that both McInnes and O’Neill will be ruled out completely, but it certainly appears that they are not going to be considered for the time-being.
