Southampton signed the Dutch ace from Celtic for just £11.5 million two-and-a-half years ago.

Ex-Hoops ace Chris Sutton took to Twitter to criticise his former club’s decision to sell Virgil van Dijk ‘on the cheap’, when justifying the £30 million value that he put on Moussa Dembele’s head.
Celtic sold the Dutchman to the Saints for what now seems like a paltry £11.5 million back in the summer of 2015, and he has gone on to establish himself as one fo the Premier League finest centre-backs.

The Southampton centre-back is now wanted by both Liverpool and Manchester City, and could be sold for a fee in the region of £70 million, according to Yahoo Sports.
And Sutton did not hold back in his criticism of the Glasgow side’s decision to sell Van Dijk for such a small amount of money.

The 44-year-old responded to a fan on Twitter who questioned the wisdom behind his £30 million valuation of Moussa Dembele:
Only time will tell if Van Dijk does eventually leave the south coast, but one thing is for sure, if he does in fact move on, the £11.5 million that Southampton paid for him 30 months ago will be made to look like pocket change.
