Everton need a revamp in their midfield and the Turkish player could be an ideal candidate.
According to Turkish publication Fotomac, Everton are hoping to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, but what could that mean for current Toffees player Morgan Schneiderlin?
The Frenchman has been woeful this season and will need to considerably up his game if he wants to secure his long-term future at Goodison Park.
For now David Unsworth remains in his caretaker role at the club, but whoever takes over at Everton permanently will have a big decision to make regarding the under-performing 28-year-old.
Considering Schneiderlin has not played well on a consistent basis since he left Southampton for Manchester United back in 2015, it would be no surprise if he was deemed surplus to requirements at Everton sooner rather than later.
After all, a new manager will not stand for the kind of performances that have seen the club slip perilously close to the relegation zone when some had tipped them to challenge for a top-four finish prior to the campaign kicking off.
Three years younger, and with the kind of drive and determination Everton need both now and further down the line, Ozyakup could represent a significant bargain, especially with his contract at Besiktas expiring at the end of this season.
One thing is for sure, he will be a better option for Schneiderlin, who may have to move abroad to kick-start his faltering career when he is shown the door.
