Sheffield United supporters are reacting on Twitter after their side were beaten by Sheffield Wednesday in the under-23 Steel City derby.

Wednesday came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win at Hillsborough on Tuesday, but several Blades are calling foul play.

While United fielded a team made up exclusively of under-23s, Wednesday's named the maximum three over-age players - for whom they paid a combined fee of more than £8 million - in theirs.

Two of those, Lucas Joao and Almen Abdi, scored the Owls' goals on the night, while Marco Matias was also in action for the hosts.

And though their rivals did everything above board, Sheffield United supporters are not best pleased nonetheless.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blades fans can at least rest easily due to the fact their team is currently 10 points and nine places clear of their much-fancied rivals, despite having only returned to the Championship this season after six years away.

And Chris Wilder's side's rise to second in the standings was helped, in part, by a 4-2 win against Wednesday at Hillsborough in September.
