Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy posed on the Jim White show on talkSPORT on Monday afternoon (12:23pm, November 6, 2017) whether Everton should look at Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers is in charge of Celtic at the moment and is doing a wonderful job at Celtic Park.
The Glasgow giants are set to win the Scottish Premiership this season and are also playing in the Champions League.
Celtic have already gone 63 games without defeat in Scotland, a British record - overseen by Rodgers.
Murphy said on the Jim White show on talkSPORT on Monday afternoon (12:23pm, November 6, 2017) while discussing the potential candidates for the Everton managerial role: “One I thought of, I am not saying this to get any arguments going, I would be really interested in Everton fans’ opinion on Brendan Rodgers because what Brendan did at Liverpool was he punched above his weight for a while in terms of nearly winning the league with that squad and in the cups he did well. Tactically he is one of the best, very good tactically.”
Rodgers is a very good manager, but the problem for Everton is that he is a former Liverpool manager.
The former Swansea City boss almost guided the Reds to the Premier League title during the 2013-14 campaign.
While Everton are a massive club in England, Celtic get 60,000 fans for their home matches at Celtic Park and are one of the biggest in the club.
Moreover, it is hard to envisage Rodgers leaving a comfortable job at Celtic and take charge of Everton, who appear to be in the Premier League relegation battle at the moment.
