Former Rangers defender Arthur Numan has spoken highly of Celtic midfielder Scott Brown to The Scottish Sun.

The 47-year-old former Rangers full-back, who was on the books of the Ibrox outfit from 1998 to 2003, has stated that Brown is a leader.

Numan has added that the Netherlands national football team need someone like the 32-year-old.

“You need those kind of players in your team,” Numan told The Scottish Sun. “Brown is a leader and someone who will simply not accept defeat.

“Most times he can be a real pain in the a*** for opponents. But, every successful team needs someone like that.

“He has a winning mentality and is not afraid to tell other players to do their jobs. That is something that has been missing from the Holland squad.

“Arjen Robben leads by example but he is getting older now. Wesley Sneijder was the same but he does not play very often now.

“Holland are looking for a new generation of players and a two or three leaders. They need someone like Scott Brown.”
