Harry Redknapp has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT, that he hasn’t heard anything from Sunderland about the vacant managerial job.

Redknapp has been tentatively linked with the job at the Stadium of Light, following Simon Grayson’s sacking.

And the 70-year-old boss certainly did not rule out taking over at Sunderland, if he was offered the chance to take charge.

“I haven’t seen a paper! That’s interesting, it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I am getting bored, I must admit,” Redknapp said.

“It’s a fantastic football club, with a great tradition. I go back with Sunderland and seeing the teams that have played over the years. It shouldn’t be where it is at the moment.”

Redknapp has been out of work since he left Birmingham City earlier this season.

Sunderland are looking for a new manager, after they parted company with Grayson earlier in the week.

The Black Cats’ failure to beat bottom of the table Bolton Wanderers at home, proved to be the final straw for Grayson at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are currently in 22nd place in the Championship table, and there are real concerns that they could face back to back relegations.

Sunderland have placed Billy McKinlay and Robbie Stockdale in joint-caretaker charge at the moment, as they assess their options.
