Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Glenn Loovens' Millwall display

Sheffield Wednesday fans look on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrews (stadium) on September 27, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Millwall 2-1 at Hillsborough.

Wednesday had few problems going forward - taking 18 shots, of which five were on target - but continued to look vulnerable at the back, despite making three changes to the side that drew with Barnsley on Saturday.

Glenn Loovens, Morgan Fox and Liam Palmer were each restored to Carlos Carvalhal's side, yet Millwall did not have to do much to score with their first meaningful attack.

Winger Fred Onyedinma picked up the ball just inside the Wednesday half proceeded to charge down the right flank, where he was trailed by Fox.

Sensing the danger, Loovens stepped out from his central position and attempted what looked to be routine challenge, only to bounce off Onyedinma, who continued into the box.

From there, the Millwall player's shot ricocheted off a lunging Tom Lees and was flicked into the goal in unconventional style by Tom Elliott, who was lurking at the far post.

It was not the first time in recent weeks that a mistake by Loovens - who was making only his second appearance since mid-August - has led to an opposition goal, after his concession of a penalty and subsequent red card at Derby last month.

And Wednesday fans were far from impressed with their captain's display:
