The Manchester United left-back worked with the Tottenham Hotspur boss during their time together at Southampton.

The left-back has struggled for fitness and form at Old Trafford since joining United from the Saints in a deal believed to be worth around £27 million, making just 29 Premier League appearances in the process.

Shaw, who has seven caps for England, seems as though he is well off the pace whenever he has been given a chance by Mourinho, and has only played 50 minutes of first-team football for the Red Devils this term.
And Pochettino had his say on how he believed that the 22-year-old was not ready to make the sacrifices needed in order to make it at the top level during their time together at St Mary’s, as quoted by the Daily Star:

“I felt his head was not in the right place to make the sacrifices and decisions that are necessary at that age.”

Shaw still has so much to prove in the game, and if he is to be successful, and enjoy a long-lasting career at the highest level, he must knuckle down and put the work in that is required.
