Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness spoke on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme, at 10:07am of Thursday October 26th, and highlighted how he does not subscribe to the fact that moving stadiums can affect the way a team plays.

The Hammers moved from Upton Park to the London Stadium last season, and went on to struggle emphatically. Spurs then made a similar move at the start of this season, playing all of their home games at Wembley Stadium on a temporary basis until they complete the switch to their new home next season.

Both West Ham and Tottenham have highlighted difficulties in adapting to their respective new homes as a major contributing factor to their struggles when playing at home, but Souness doesn’t subscribe to that notion.

He told Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily:

“It can be difficult moving stadiums, Arsenal had the same when they moved Highbury. Getting used to the new surface…I just don’t get that, Tottenham the same with Wembley.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side have actually begun their 2017/18 campaign in fine fettle, despite a few disappointing home results, whilst the Hammers have been totally woeful on their home patch from the very first game of the season.

And both sides will need to get used to their new homes very quickly, if they are to enjoy relatively successful campaigns.
