Napoli have reportedly joined Newcastle United in the race for the goalkeeper.
According to a report from Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Magpies will face competition from Serie A side Napoli for goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old, with the Sun claiming that Rafa Benitez has shortlisted the Argentinian stopper as one of his primary January transfer targets.
It seems as though the Tyneside outfit’s pursuit of Rulli will not be as simple as first thought, however, with Benitez’s former club now entering the frame.
The £15 million-rated goalkeeper is out of contract with Spanish side Real Sociedad in the summer, so a lot will depend on whether or not either club are prepared to make a cash offer for his services in January.

The Argentine has represented his country at the Olympics, but has never played for the men’s national team outside of that.
He is a talented stopper though, and would undoubtedly be a useful acquisition to the Newcastle squad, if they do in fact manage to beat off competition form Napoli.
