According to reports from the Daily Mirror (printed edition; 18th October – page 49), Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Queens Park Rangers’ midfielder Massimo Luongo in the January transfer window.

This is not the first time Forest have shown interest in the 25-year-old midfielder. Forest were linked with a move for the Australian in the summer by The Times, but they failed to agree to a deal back then.

Rangers weren’t willing to sell their top player on that occasion, but it seems their resolve on the player will be tested again in January.

Luongo has played a key role for QPR this season, managing 990 minutes of Championship action in 11 games. He has made 3.5 tackles and 1.9 interceptions on an average, and managed 2.4 shots per game as well, according to whoscored.com.

He could offer Forest creativity and steel in their midfield, and will add significant quality and depth to Mark Warburton’s side. If they are able to complete the deal, it would represent a massive statement of intent from Forest.
