It is surely fair to say that Marko Arnautovic has endured a fairly miserable time since joining West Ham from Stoke in the summer for a fee that the Guardian reported could potentially reach £25 million.
The Austrian is yet to score or contribute an assist in the Premier League since he arrived, and his most notable moment in a Hammers shirt came when he was sent off for a needless elbow on Jack Stephens during their August defeat to Southampton.
And unfortunately for the 28-year-old, his latest performance gave Irons fans little reason to believe that he will justify the club's decision to make him their most expensive signing to date.
Slaven Bilic's men had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor, as a late goal from Chris Wood cancelled out Michail Antonio's early opener.
Despite the scoreline, it was an eventful game with Andy Carroll rivalling Arnautovic's dismissal against the Saints for stupidity as he picked up two yellow cards in around two minutes for similar offences.
Arnautovic's involvement would come to an end at half-time, with Bilic replacing him with Pedro Obiang, seemingly in an attempt to protect their lead given their disadvantage.
But the forward's withdrawal led to little criticism from the supporters who took to Twitter to comment on the game, with many lamenting the decision to sign him in the first place and asking Stoke to sign him back.
Here is the best of the underwhelming reaction to Arnautovic's performance...
Arnautovic is stupid, doesn’t know what he’s doing half the time, just hits people— Dom ⚒ (@Dom_WHUFC1995) 14 October 2017
I was excited when we signed Arnautovic but just like Ayew it seems a complete waste of money now. He brings absolutely nothing to the team.— ☘Irish Tommy 5280 ⚒ (@tomster36) 14 October 2017
Ladies and gents...we spent 40m on ayew and arnautovic..have a good weekend— Paul (@Hammer1966) 14 October 2017

Marko Arnautovic - Record signing demanded by Bilic at £25m, gets hooked for Lanzini, a 10/CAM, to play LM instead of him...— Matt Walsh (@M_Walsh1) 14 October 2017
Arnautovic is just another player that falls into the "you have been a record signing for West Ham so you'll be a flop" category.— Will Mason ⚒ (@WillMason94) 14 October 2017
