Everton are crying out for a winger, so perhaps a move for Serbia wide-man Mijat Gacinovic would make sense after their recent scouting trip.

According to a recent report from Kleine Zeitung, Everton were one of the sides who sent scouts to watch Austria’s recent World Cup qualifier with Serbia. And while it is unclear who the focus of the Toffees’ attention was during the game, perhaps one player who did feature in the game should be on their radar – even if they would face heavyweight opposition for his signature.

It has been an extremely difficult start to the season for Ronald Koeman, with Everton just two points and two places above the bottom three in the Premier League.

While there appear to be issues in defence, one of their main problems appears to be the lack of options in wide areas going forward as well as the lack of strikers.

So perhaps a player like Mijat Gacinovic should come onto their radar as he would unquestionably provide some much-needed quality on the wing for the Toffees.

The 22-year-old is enjoying an extremely promising run of form to kick off the campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt and Serbia, and the Daily Mirror suggested that he is attracting the attention of Manchester United and Bayern Munich, with Jose Mourinho also attending the qualifier to have a look at the youngster.

Everton may be facing an uphill battle trying to beat those two sides to his signature – if they decided to enter the race – but perhaps by convincing Gacinovic that he could be one of the final pieces in the jigsaw at Goodison Park, they have the potential to see off the competition if he feels that a move to Old Trafford or to the Allianz Arena could stifle his development.
