The Toffees are reportedly in contact with Mazzarri, who they feel could take over from Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.
Koeman is under severe pressure at Everton, after the Merseyside club’s terrible start to the campaign.
Everton are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table, and lost their last match 1-0 to Burnley.
Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has recently publicly backed Koeman, suggesting that the Dutch manager has his full backing.
However, the Sun claim that Everton are starting to consider other options - and Mazzarri is keen to take the job.
The Italian’s previous experience in English football came with Watford last season, and he managed to guide the Hornets to a 17th placed finish.
Mazzarri is also said to be a target of AC Milan, but the 56-year-old would rather be in charge at Everton.
