West Ham United continued their disappointing start to the Premier League season yesterday with a home defeat to Tottenham.

Hammers midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate spoke exclusively to the club’s official website and shared what Slaven Bilic told the players during the half-time break, during their disappointing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

West Ham now find themselves inside the relation zone, after a woeful return of just four points from their opening six Premier League outings, and after a summer of heavy spending, Bilic finds himself under intense scrutiny from both the club’s fans and board.

Kouyate, who scored the east London outfit’s second goal at the London Stadium yesterday, shared what the Croatian told his players during the break yesterday, when speaking exclusively to WHUFC.com:

“After the first half, we spoke with the manager and players and said ‘Guys, we need to push because we are 2-0 down and we need to give everything’. We gave everything, but the game was very bad for us so we need to stay focused and work hard.”

It seems as though there has been too many occasions over the last 12 months where West Ham have been out of the game before it really got started, and that must be something that they improve on in the coming weeks and months.

The Hammers now face a crucial trio of fixtures, with home games against Swansea City and Brighton and Hove Albion sandwiched by a trip to Sean Dyche’s plucky Burnley side.

And if their losing run continues, there may not be too many more half-time team talks for Bilic at West Ham.
