Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Luke Shaw's performance

Luke Shaw was a second half substitute for Manchester United against Burton.

Luke Shaw made his first appearance of the season for Manchester United last night in the win over Burton Albion.

Shaw was a half time substitute, coming on with the Red Devils already 3-0 up.

The left-back began with a real show of burst and determination to get forward but was unable to sustain this as the match went on.

Shaw's passing in the final third was inaccurate and his defending lacked aggression and he was slow to closing space down.

The former England international missed pre-season so being off the pace is understandable. Last night's game was for him, a match to get up to speed.

On the evidence of his performance, Shaw has plenty of work to do if he is to challenge for a starting spot in United's side.

All is not lost as United's left-back spot is far from settled, but Shaw must raise his game and his fitness in order to make it his own once again.

This is a big season for Shaw to try and regain the faith of manager Jose Mourinho after a disappointing season last time out.
