Leeds United reportedly want to enhance their squad further in January with Getafe-owned attacker Emi Buendia top of their list.

Leeds United’s left-field recruitment drive looks set to continue in January with two more under-the-radar gems reportedly targeted to join the likes of Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Felix Wiedwald at Elland Road.

However, a deal to bring in Japanese international midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi may be far from straightforward. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that the 21-year-old was a top target for the mid-season window.

However, Ideguchi, who won the J League’s Rookie of the Year award in 2015, may not qualify for a work permit, according to Yahoo Japan, meaning Leeds could be forced to loan him out to another European club – like Arsenal did when sending Takuma Asano to Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

Fortunately, a deal to bring in Emiliano Buendia from La Liga outfit Getafe may be a little easier. The Sun (17th September, page 63) reported that the 20-year-old forward is being eyed up for a potential January move to West Yorkshire – and it just so happens that he is spending the current season on loan at Leeds’ feeder club Cultural Leonesa.

Fortunately, however, Buendia has dual Spanish and Argentine nationality – meaning that obtaining a work permit should not be an issue as the attacker has spent the last eight years plying his trade in Spain.

The last player to move from Spain’s second division to Leeds, Samu Saiz, has hit the ground running and Thomas Christiansen would be hoping that Buendia, who spent a year in Real Madrid’s academy before moving to Getafe, can follow in his footsteps.
