Former Sheffield Wednesday striker David Hirst mobbed by fans
David Hirst, the former Sheffield Wednesday striker, has revealed he has heard good things about Leeds United under Thomas Christiansen.
Christiansen was something of an unknown when he replaced Garry Monk at Elland Road in June, but has led Leeds to the top of the Championship without defeat, after Tuesday’s 2-0 win against Birmingham City.
The Whites – who already 10 points better off than they were at the same stage last season, in which they finished seventh – have also scored more goals and conceded fewer than any of their divisional rivals.

Discussing the West Yorkshire side’s recent 5-0 win over Burton Albion ahead of a guest appearance on Monday’s The Ref Show, Hirst said: “I’ve heard good reports out of there… about the manager, the way he plays, his philosophy with it and everything.
“Yeah, I’ve heard some good reports on it.”
Hirst’s comments could be deemed significant considering the recent speculation linking his son George with a move from Wednesday to Leeds.

The Whites are one of two sides, along with Premier League Leicester City, who the Mirror reported were “trying to push through” deals ahead of last month’s transfer deadline.
Hirst Jr scored 40 goals for Wednesday and England at youth level last term but is yet to agree a new contract at Hillsborough.
The 18-year-old’s current deal runs out in less than 10 months’ time, and he could leave for a club of his choosing next summer unless the current stand-off is broken.
