Tottenham’s under-23 side were defeated by Everton at the weekend.

Tottenham’s under-23 side could not follow up their first team’s success against Everton at the weekend.
While Spurs beat Everton 3-0 in the Premier League, the Toffees under-23 side beat their Tottenham counterparts 4-1 on Sunday.
Everton’s £11 million January signing Ademola Lookman was among the goalscorers, netting a spectacular effort from 25 yards out.

Lookman has featured for Everton in the Europa League this season and was a key part of England’s under-20 World Cup winning squad.
Tottenham under-23 coach Wayne Burnett was disappointed with the 4-1 loss, but felt 16-year-old talent Brooklyn Lyons-Foster did particularly well up against Lookman.
He told Tottenham’s official website: “There were one or two good performances. Brooklyn Lyons-Foster at the back, playing against a very talented player in Lookman, he did very well.
“He’s still only 16 and did well, I was pleased with him.”

It’s an achievement already for a 16-year-old to be starting for an under-23 side, and the praise from his coach will further boost his confidence.
There will be a long journey for Lyons-Foster if he is to make it into the Tottenham first team, but the young defender is certainly on the right track.
He has five caps already for England’s under-17 side and is a name fans could hear a lot more of in the future.
