Watford are reportedly considering making a move for the Leicester City striker.
Islam Slimani joined Leicester City from Sporting Lisbon last season with a reputation of being a “goal machine”, but he could be on the move away from King Power Stadium this summer.
Leicester forked out £29 million for his signature, breaking their club’s transfer record in the process. But, after a modicum return of seven goals in 23 league games last season, Leicester are willing to let him go.
The 29-year-old Algerian striker, who has 52 caps under his belt, has slipped down the pecking order and is free to leave.
According to the Mirror (transfer live blog; 01:56 am) Watford will try to arrange a deadline-day swoop for the Leicester striker, and are hopeful of snapping him up on loan this week.
However, Marco Silva will have to slash number in the squad, and free up the space for any potential new arrival.
The report claims that Watford striker Jerome Sinclair will be allowed to join Sheffield United, and that the 20-year-old is close to sealing a move.
Watford have signed Andre Gray and Brazilian forward Richarlison this summer, but it seems Silva wants more firepower in the attacking department.
