According to reports from Wales Online, Swansea City have made an audacious move to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old midfielder joined Bayern last season from Benfica, but has struggled to nail down a regular starting place under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Portugal international, who has 12 caps for his country, has been given the green-light to leave the German giants on loan.
Premier League rivals Liverpool have been linked with a move for Sanches, but the report claims that Swansea are in “genuine contention” for a deal.
Sanches will be a cracker of a signing for the Swans. His signing will not only boost Swansea’s hopes of survival, but will add genuine depth and quality to the side.
Paul Clement has money to spend following Gylfi Sigurdsson’s move to Everton, and from a financial point of view the Wales outfit can afford to take him on loan.
The Swansea boss has previously worked with the player during his time as assistant to Carlo Ancelotti in Munich, and could play a pivotal role in bringing him to the Liberty Stadium.
While Sanches could be looking to move to big European clubs, there is no guarantee he’ll get regular games there.
On the other hand, Bayern would want him to further his development by playing under a trusted coach, and could sanction a loan move to Swansea.
