HITC Sport understands Middlesbrough are eyeing the in demand Bristol City defender, who is also on Birmingham City’s radar.

Middlesbrough are lining up a move for Bristol City defender Aden Flint, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Flint’s future at Bristol City has been the subject of speculation all summer with several Championship sides expressing an interest in the giant central defender.

Birmingham City have had a couple of bids rejected for Flint with Bristol City reluctant to sell the defender unless their asking price is met.

Flint has established himself as a key player in the Bristol City side since joining the club from Swindon in 2013.

Flint has been left out of Lee Johnson’s squad in recent weeks amidst rumours linking him with a move away from Ashton Gate with the defender making just two appearances so far this term.

Now Middlesbrough are ready to join the chase for Flint as Boro boss Garry Monk looks to bolster his defensive options before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Middlesbrough are ready to firm up their interest with a bid as they look to test Bristol City’s resolve to keep hold of Flint before the transfer window shuts and it remains to be seen if Birmingham will back with a new offer for the defender.
