Garth Crooks says that Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer doesn’t feel inspiring.
Former Tottenham Hotspur player and now popular BBC pundit Garth Crooks says that Frank de Boer doesn’t exude confidence following Crystal Palace’s 2-0 defeat against Swansea City on Saturday.
Palace appointed De Boer this summer, and already talks are doing the round that the club is in a crisis after the poor start to the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
The Eagles lost their opening three Premier League games, and are at the bottom of the table along with West Ham, with goal difference separating them.
Crooks says that Palace are lacking “inspiration”, and it should come from their manager. He has criticised the former Ajax boss, saying the Dutchman doesn’t exude confidence even during his interviews.
The former Spurs player has compared him with Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, saying that the Spaniard has instilled “inspiration” at the Tyneside club.
Newcastle, like Palace, went into the match on the back of successive Premier League defeats, but they showed great character and fighting spirit against West Ham on Saturday.
“Palace need inspiration. Frank de Boer doesn’t feel inspiring – even in his interviews. Rafa Benitez has instilled inspiration at Newcastle,” said Garth Crooks to BBC Sport (BBC live commentary; 16:30 pm). “That’s what Crystal Palace need.”
