Leeds United have reportedly identified Norwich City’s Portuguese international Nelson Oliveira as a possible replacement for Chris Wood.

Nelson Oliveira may have scored 16 fewer goals than Chris Wood in the Championship last season but it appears that many Leeds United fans would jump at the chance of replacing their departed talisman with Norwich City’s frontman.
Leeds have £15 million burning a hole in their pocket following Wood’s move to Burnley and, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Oliveira is on the club’s shortlist of potential replacements.

And it’s fair to say links with the 16-time Portugal international have been better received than reports that The Whites had made a bid of £6 million for Middlesbrough’s Rudy Gestede (YEP), a player with Championship pedigree but whose form has dipped alarmingly.
Oliveira, meanwhile, appears the perfect fit for Leeds’ attack. Like Wood, he is a strong centre-forward capable of leading the line on his own. But Oliveira would add more skill and pace in attack, though his goalscoring record could do with a little work.

The prospect of the former Benfica wonderkid linking up with Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski is enough to stoke the flames for a promotion push and ensure Leeds supporters forget all about the contentious departure of last season’s Championship Golden Boot winner.
Norwich will not let Oliveira go on the cheap but, with £15 million to spend, Leeds can quite literally afford to aim high.
